Coronado Island

When we woke up on Tuesday Michael headed back to the airport to pick up our rental car while I got the kids ready. Then we made our way down to San Diego. We were beyond excited to get there and start our first family vacation. (By the way, let me say this now... I had a very detailed itinerary in place for the week. I wanted to make sure no time was wasted. I am positive this helped our vacation go smoothly).

Our first stop was the Coronado Ferry. It only runs on the hour so we hurried on just in time to head over to Coronado Island. The kids loved riding on the boat.

While on the island we stopped for lunch at a little hot dog place. I had the best corn dog ever. Their tots were also very tasty. Because we took the ferry we had to explore the island on foot. Good thing it is less than two miles across. Before heading to the beach we stopped at a little shop and let the kids buy postcards. We stopped and saw the famous Hotel del Coronado. We made our way to the beach so the kids had the chance to put their feet in the ocean for the first time. We weren't prepared for a beach day, but the kids enjoyed it anyway.

On our way back to the ferry landing we stopped at a farmers market and bought some strawberries and tangelos for breakfast the next day. Once we got back to our car we decided to go ahead and drive down to our hotel in Imperial Beach (more on that later). Our first day in San Diego was so much fun.
