Miriam's Field Day & SCHOOL'S OUT!

I think field day is every elementary school kid's dream day. When Miriam found out there would be water games during her field day she was really excited. School is almost out!

Just like last year Miriam wanted to wear the same outfit on the first day of school and the last day of school. Miriam had such a great year in first grade. She loves school!

Miriam's First Grade Program

This week Miriam had her first grade program. It is was a patriotic program about America. All the classes talked about a symbol or person in American history. Miriam's class did the Statue of Liberty. She said her part perfectly. She was so excited for us to come to her school and see her perform.

School Pictures and Parent/Teacher Conference

Even though I didn't want to buy Miriam's school pictures I thought I would take a (terrible quality) picture of her picture to remember it. She looked really cute and it actually wasn't too bad of a picture.

We got to meet with Miriam's teacher this week for parent teacher conference. The boys wanted to come along and see Miriam's school. It is so nice to know that Miriam is doing so well in school. Her teacher only had good things to say about her. Miriam loves first grade!

First Day of School

Miriam is so excited to start first grade. She thinks it will be great to eat lunch at school. It will be an adjustment having her gone all day. Miriam is growing up so fast. She is such an amazing girl. Here are pictures of the first day of school.

Last Day of Kindergarten

It is hard to believe that Miriam is all done with Kindergarten. She loved school this year. It was so good for her to get out of her comfort zone and make new friends. She learned a lot and is already reading on a first grade level. We are proud of Miriam and all her progress at school this year. She is already looking forward to first grade in only 10 short weeks.

Miriam's Bug Program

The kindergartners at Miriam's school put on a bug "play" for the end of the school year. They sang songs about different bugs. Miriam's class was the Army Ants. She has loved school so much this year. It is always fun to visit her school and see what she is learning. It is hard to believe the school year is almost over.

Miriam's First Day of Kindergarten

Last week Miriam attended kindergarten orientation at her school. She got to meet her teacher, see her classroom, and even ride the bus. She asked every day after that when she could go to school for real. The night before school started Michael was talking to Miriam about getting a father's blessing to start the school year. Miriam told him that she wasn't scared because that is what Lucky Charms are for. In the end she agreed to the blessing.

Miriam got placed in morning kindergarten. This is going to be a huge adjustment for our family. We are late sleepers. The bus comes at 7:25 am and school starts at 7:50 am. It is only half-day kindergarten so she gets out at 10:50 am. This morning she was so excited that it took no time at all for her to be ready to go. I know better than to think it will be this easy every morning.

I was sure Miriam was going to want me to take her to school the first day. However, she wanted to ride the bus to school. She has made some friends in the neighborhood this summer so she was excited to ride to school with them. It was hard sending her off, but she was so excited and I know it made her feel so grown up. Good news is she is still excited to go back tomorrow.
