Miriam's Bug Program
The kindergartners at Miriam's school put on a bug "play" for the end of the school year. They sang songs about different bugs. Miriam's class was the Army Ants. She has loved school so much this year. It is always fun to visit her school and see what she is learning. It is hard to believe the school year is almost over.

Annual Strawberry Picking
Once again we headed to Mackintosh Fruit Farm for our annual strawberry picking. There is nothing sweeter than fresh picked strawberries right from the field. The kids were in heaven picking (and a little bit of eating) all the strawberries they could find. We ended up picking about thirty pounds of strawberries. Since we bought a chest freezer a couple of weeks ago we knew we could freeze some for later. It is hard for 5 people to eat all those strawberries when none of them really likes strawberry jam.

Great Country Farms
One of my favorite days so far this year was the day we spent at Great Country Farms. We had never taken the kids to GCF before (I am mostly all about the free farms), but I found a deal online. Michael took the day off so we could all go together. As part of our ticket price we all got a cup of feed for the animals. They had cows, chickens, pigs, an emu, rheas, hens, guinea fowl, geese, ducks, miniature horses, sheep, and goats. The kids were nervous at first, but in the end enjoyed feeding the animals. Miriam and Simon loved the huge jumping pillow. Everyone loved going down the huge slides made out of culvert tubes. The weather was really nice and we were surprised that it wasn't very busy, not that we were complaining. We had a lot of fun playing on the rope swings and racing the pedal cars. After we had as much fun as we could handle, we took a wagon ride out to pick some spinach. It was all they had to pick so early in the season and it ended up not being very good. Oh well. We had a great day together!
Here are a few video clips of our day at GCF.

Michael's Birthday
Michael had to work late on his birthday, so we celebrated with him the next day. The kids and I got him a ladder and a wet/dry vacuum. Even though it was his big 30th birthday we kept it low key. I hope that he was happy to just celebrate with his wife and kids. We sure love Michael and all he does for us. Happy Birthday!
Please don't judge my solo, in fact please feel free to mute :)

Mother's Day
When my Mother's day gift came in the mail Michael and the kids couldn't wait to give it to me. I opened it a week early. We were very excited to start making smoothies in our new blender right away.
I came across this quote about motherhood that sums up my feelings about being a mom, "There is no one perfect way to be a good mother. Each situation is unique. Each mother has different challenges, different skills and abilities, and certainly different children. The choice is different and unique for each mother and each family... What matters is that a mother loves her children deeply and, in keeping with the devotion she has for God and her husband, prioritizes them above all else." M. Russell Ballard - Daughters of God

Dance Pictures
Miriam didn't want to miss a chance to dress up and get her picture taken even though I didn't plan on buying any studio portraits. Since I opted out of paying a million dollars (okay, more like $30-80) for Miriam's dance pictures I snapped a few pictures before we left.

April Extras
In April:
* Miriam was home for spring break during the first week of April.
* We went to the children's museum in Winchester with friends during spring break.
* We made an obligatory stop at Sonic on the way home from Winchester.
* We had a busy week with Easter, Simon's birthday, and Levi's birthday all together this year.
* The weather was finally warming up enough to spend lots more time outside.
* By the end of April everyone was healthy and happy again.
* My brother came to visit us while he was here on a work trip and we found out his family is moving here in July!
