Halloween 2013

MIRIAM THE PRINCESS

This year the kids lucked out with beautiful weather for Trunk-or-Treat at the church and Trick-or-Treat on Halloween night. I took advantage of the nice day and took some pictures before we went to the church. Miriam couldn't decide which princess she wanted to be, so she was Sleeping Beauty for Trunk-or-Treat and Snow White for Trick-or-Treat. On the other hand I could barely get Simon to wear his cape and mask (on his forehead). Simon didn't really care/understand too much about dressing up this year. I only got a picture on my phone before we headed out on Halloween because it was cloudy and starting to get dark when we left. Good thing I thought ahead and took these pictures earlier in the week.

Picking Apples

We took a low key approach to picking apples this fall. We decided we would only need enough apples to eat. As much as I wanted to make applesauce it just wasn't in the cards. We went a little late in the season so there wasn't very many varieties left to pick. We ended up heading to the same farm where we picked strawberries earlier this year. They only had Pink Lady apples left to pick, but they also had some Honey-crisp already picked that we bought. By the way, Honey-crisp are my new favorite apple. So crunchy and sweet. The kids had fun picking and eating apples. Miriam isn't much of a fruit eater so it always amazes me that she loves to try the fruit when she has picked it herself.

Mackintosh Fruit Farm also has a huge garden where you can pick your own vegetables. We bought some peppers, tomatillos, and tomatoes to make salsa. We also bought eggplant, cherry tomatoes, and green beans to eat. It was a beautiful day and we enjoyed the fruits of our labor!
