Miriam's Dance Recital

Miriam has worked really hard this year in dance class. She has improved as a tap and ballet dancer. She has decided this will be her last year taking dance. Next year she wants to focus on swim lessons and piano lessons.

Unfortunately Miriam's costume for the dance recital this year was hideous. The girls in her class were all so disappointed to not have a cute sparkly costume. Despite complaints from dancers and parents nothing changed. In the end everyone decided to make the best of it and cheer on our girls.

We enjoyed watching Miriam in her dance recital this year. Maybe someday she will take it back up again.

Miriam's Field Day & SCHOOL'S OUT!

I think field day is every elementary school kid's dream day. When Miriam found out there would be water games during her field day she was really excited. School is almost out!

Just like last year Miriam wanted to wear the same outfit on the first day of school and the last day of school. Miriam had such a great year in first grade. She loves school!

Miriam's First Grade Program

This week Miriam had her first grade program. It is was a patriotic program about America. All the classes talked about a symbol or person in American history. Miriam's class did the Statue of Liberty. She said her part perfectly. She was so excited for us to come to her school and see her perform.

Miriam's Birthday

We celebrated Miriam's birthday on a couple of different days. On the 21st we had dinner and cupcakes with Trevor and Robyn's family. (We only got a video that day. I really need to do better.) On the 23rd we celebrated her actual birthday the only way our kids know how, bowling and lunch at Chick-fil-A. This was the first time Levi showed interest in bowling, so we let him push the ball down the lane. It was a pretty busy day at the bowling alley and there were not any ramps left for the kids. Miriam and Simon actually did really well without it. Levi only bowled one game while Miriam and Simon bowled 2 games. First game scores: Miriam 73, Simon 62, Levi 85. Second game scores: Miriam 82 and Simon 52.

This year Miriam requested spaghetti carbonara for dinner. After dinner Michael's parents came over with Elizabeth and Rebecca for presents and dessert. Miriam got a lot of fun things for her birthday including a new haircut (and looking back at these pictures I realized she had three different hairstyles in one day)!

I had a couple of videos to share, but our computer is wacko. I can only get this one to work, so pretend there is a cute video of the kids bowling and of Miriam opening gifts also.

Happy Birthday Miriam!

My little girl is seven! She is just the sweetest girl I know. She is a big helper at home. She is very smart and loves learning to read. Miriam really loves first grade. At her doctor appointment we found out Miriam is 50 inches tall and weighs 50 pounds. Kind of funny how that worked out. Miriam loves to craft and make up games to play. She is always leaving us little notes and we love finding them.

School Pictures and Parent/Teacher Conference

Even though I didn't want to buy Miriam's school pictures I thought I would take a (terrible quality) picture of her picture to remember it. She looked really cute and it actually wasn't too bad of a picture.

We got to meet with Miriam's teacher this week for parent teacher conference. The boys wanted to come along and see Miriam's school. It is so nice to know that Miriam is doing so well in school. Her teacher only had good things to say about her. Miriam loves first grade!

Primary Program

Miriam and Simon were excited to participate in the primary program at church last week. It was Simon's first program and Miriam's fourth. They both did an amazing job singing all the songs. They both remembered all of the words for their class parts. We love them and are so happy with all the great things they learn in primary.

Miriam is so excited to start dance for the new school year. She will be taking a ballet and tap combo class. She has a new teacher and all new friends in her class. We are excited to see her learn and perform this year.
