Miriam's Classes + Silly Things

Miriam took a four week parent/child swim class this past month. It was a really fun thing for her and Michael to do together. I was hoping it would help her with her fear of getting her face wet, but after her last class she said, "that was fun but I am not taking swim class again". When I asked her why not she said, "because I don't like getting my face wet". I don't want to give up on getting her more comfortable with the water. I think we will take a couple of months off from lessons and see how she does in the pool by herself this summer.

Along with swim class we signed Miriam up for an eight week ballet class. She has loved every minute of dressing up in her ballet clothes and going to class. She is very attentive to the teacher and shows us each week what she learned. She already wants to sign up for ballet again... even though she still has 5 more classes this go around.

Miriam has a great imagination and comes up with some pretty funny things. I wish I could remember them all, but here are the silly things I remembered to write down.

"I think they are having issues"

"Some houses are different. Some are stuck together and can't be pulled apart, like ours"

I was having a hard time getting a jar open. I said "I need to work out and get some muscles". Miriam chimes in, "Dad has a muscle".

"If we leave this store without buying anything I will be mad at you for the rest of the day, and tomorrow and the next day."

"Mom if you wear that sweater to church people will tell you to go home and change because you look crazy."

Mom: Simon I like your haircut
Miriam: I don't
Mom: I do, he looks like a big boy
Miriam: nope, he looks like a woman

Miriam: Mom, when will you have a baby in your tummy again?
Mom: I don't know
Miriam: Do we have to order one on the computer?

Capitol Tour

Michael's parents "won" a tour of the Capitol Building (long story short - they know a guy that works in the Senate office that offered to take us around). We had our own personal tour guide and got to see a lot of things that most people don't get to see anymore. The kids were really bored and didn't enjoy it too much, but I think they did really well overall. We took turns carrying them a lot since we couldn't bring our stroller. I hadn't been in the Capitol Building for many years, so I enjoyed going back and seeing the historic building that is the center of our nation's capitol.

After the tour we got to ride the underground train that connects the Capitol building with some of the other Senate offices. Michael said that was one of the coolest parts of the day. Funny how a one minute train ride can do that for a boy of any age.

Once we were back in the Russell building where our friend works he showed us around more where the Senate actually works. Miriam and Simon loved pretending to speak into microphones and sit in Senator's chairs.

I would just like to thank Michael's mom for taking so many pictures. I realized that we didn't get any pictures with her in them... that is because she took so many wonderful pictures for us. It is nice to actually be in some pictures for a change.
